Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How long does this bed suit my child?

The size of the laying area is 102x55 cm on the inside. Therefore a child can sleep in this bed up until it's about 2 years old. The Technical Inspection Authority advises not to make use of baby beds anymore once the child is able to climb out of the bed by itself.

Is the laying area not too hard and does it not sag?

The extent of spanning of the laying area can be adjusted individually. The general advice with reference to crib death is that the child should not lay too soft. A sinking depth of about 2 cm is recommended. Through the special construction of this bed a hammock-like effect is prevented. The child lies straight, just as it would on a conventional high-quality mattress.

Is the laying area warm enough?

The laying area is composed of altogether 3 layers cotton and 4 layers molleton. Together with a baby sleeping bag (recommended with reference to crib death) the isolation of this bed is sufficient, even in colder nights. In general children should not lay too warm. In addition to this it is possible to remove parts of the isolating inlays and therefore prevent over-heating.

How often does the cotton need to be washed?

In order to achieve the optimal effect of avoiding fungus and mites, we advise you to at least wash the hanging sack and molletons every three months at 60⁰ C. Once you got used to it the parts to be washed are taken out in no time. If this seems too much of an effort you can also simply clean the hygienic inlay just as you would with a conventional mattress in order to maintain a normal cleaning standard.

With what has the bed been treated?

The cotton stems from certified organic cultivation and is natural. The fabric has neither been dyed nor bleached. The wood is untreated and was polished smooth, whereby it gained a velvety surface.

How can the bed be cleaned?

The cotton is entirely removable and washable at 60⁰ C. Minor stains on the wood can be removed with the help of a moist cloth. When larger stains (e.g. ball-pen) are present, the wooden frame can simply be polished with sand paper by hand.

Why is the bed so expensive?

The bed consists of high-quality solid wood (no plywood or glued wood) and only cotton from certified organic cultivation is used. The bed is built in Germany and is mainly handmade.
